Sustainable Mats

Our eco-friendly and sustainable mats are made to be better for our planet. Many use recycled / reclaimed materials which stops these materials going into landfill. Our coir mats are made from sustainable natural coconut fibres. Many of the sustainable mats can be recycled at the end of their life, so the mats can be turned into new products.

Trusted Mats strive to use eco-friendly or sustainable choices, whether it be the products we sell, the suppliers we choose or the method of delivery.

Packaging used for Delivering our Mats

All of our mats are sensibly packaged to protect the mats in transit, but also to reduce waste and empty space.

Our Mat Guarantees & Durability

The guarantees we give are an indicator of the durability of the mats and the least time you can expect the mats to continue performing in commercial / industrial use. This can be increased through good maintenance and cleaning of the mats. The longer the mats last results in fewer replacements, lower replacement costs and fewer mats being thrown away.

Which Recycled Materials are used in Mats?

Mats are not always made 100% from recycled materials and some virgin materials may be used. This can help ensure the mats are more effective for longer durations. The right balance of materials needs to be applied to make a mat more eco-friendly.

Recycled plastic, reclaimed from PET plastics bottles or used fishing lines, can be made into many objects we use in daily life. Such objects include pencils, furniture as well as mats. The mat pile in many of our products is made in this way and it gives good scraping and wiping performance. It is also very durable and remains effective for a longer time than most natural materials, such as cotton and coir.

Mats which use plastic backing, such as PVC, or are made wholly of plastic, such as chair mats, may also use more recycled plastic content.

Recycled rubber from sources such as used vehicle tyres, can be used in objects such as 4G football pitches, playground flooring and mats. Fully rubber mats and mats with a rubber backing may use recycled rubber content.

Coir Matting: An Eco-Friendly Choice

Coir derives from the husks of coconuts, making it a natural and renewable choice that literally grows on trees. This inedible part would otherwise be discarded, but can be woven and made into mats.

Coir is biodegradable and compostable, so it will not end up in landfill waste. The commercial coir mats we sell at Trusted Mats are more durable than standard coir mats, which means they will need replacing less often resulting in less waste.

Compared to the manufacture of synthetic materials, the production process of coir using significantly less energy and water resource and avoids the chemical usage required to make synthetic mats.

How do I Recycle my old Floor Mat?

Your local recycling centre is likely to be the most convenient option. Check first to see if you can recycle your old mat there. Alternatively, contact the supplier of the recyclable mat to find out how it can be recycled and the process you need to follow.
