How to Choose the Right Chair Mat:

Measure:

Total floor space
Workstation width
Size of chair base
‘Roll area’ – how far you’ll move on your chair
Carpet depth including underlay

How to measure your carpet and underlay depth:

Straighten a paperclip as shown below.
Insert the paperclip through the carpet and underlay until it touches the subfloor.
Measure the depth from the point where the paperclip touches the subfloor to the top of the carpet pile.
Choose a chair mat designed for carpets with a depth equal to or greater than your measurement.
