Do I need connectors?

Connectors are not essential in every installation. GroundShield mats can be laid without connectors in some applications, but connectors are recommended where you want to minimise movement between mats, particularly with regular vehicle traffic or larger installations.

Which connector should I choose?

• Standard Connectors – Suitable for general applications and available in 2-way and 4-way versions. Mats are positioned over the connector and secured from above using bolts and washers.
• Galvanised Connectors – Provide additional corrosion resistance and are available in 2-way and 4-way versions. The prongs locate through the mat holes, allowing quick installation without bolts or washers.
• Low Profile Connector – A 2-way connector suitable where a lower-profile connection is preferred and connector height needs to be minimised.
• Heavy Duty Cable Ties – Suitable for lighter-duty applications where securing the mats is the main requirement. For regular vehicle traffic or where greater restraint is required, dedicated connectors are recommended.

2-way or 4-way connectors?

Use 2-way connectors for straight runs of mats and 4-way connectors where four mats meet.

How many connectors do I need?

Six connection points per mat are recommended when fully securing all four sides, but the actual number of connectors required will depend on the number of mats, how they are arranged and the level of restraint required.

Please note: Connectors are designed to secure the mats and help reduce movement. They do not increase the load rating of the mat itself.
